The History and Future of Our Earth

"1(A Psalm of David.) The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

2

For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods." Psalm 24:1-2 (KJV) https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Psalms-Chapter-24/

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." Genesis 1:1 (KJV) https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Genesis-Chapter-1/

The earth is God’s. He created it, as well as all of the human beings who live in it. (Genesis 1:26-27 https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Genesis-Chapter-1/). When God created human beings, He gave them “dominion” over the whole earth (Genesis 1:26-28). This dominion was not to be an abusive one. God put man in the garden of Eden “to dress it and keep it” (Genesis 1:15).

If we read further on in the Bible, we can see how God wants us to treat animals as well. “A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.” Proverbs 12:10 (KJV) https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Proverbs-12-10/

God definitely wants us to be responsible and kind stewards of the world. “And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.” Revelation 11:18 (KJV) https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Revelation-11-18/

It is sinful to destroy the earth that God created. People who love God will seek to be responsible in the way that they treat the earth and, even more so, the people and animals that live in it. This being said, this world is suffering the effects of sin.

When Adam and Eve disobeyed God (Genesis 3 tells this very sad story https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Genesis-Chapter-3/), sin came into the world and what horrible damage it has done on all levels and in all aspects of life!

Unfortunately, most human beings have given themselves over to Satan and sin. The result of the sad, sinful situation this world is in is that the earth is completely unsalvageable. This world is going down and there is nothing that any of us can do to stop this earth from finally being destroyed.

“Lift up your eyes to the heavens, And look on the earth beneath. For the heavens will vanish away like smoke, The earth will grow old like a garment, And those who dwell in it will die in like manner; But My salvation will be forever, And My righteousness will not be abolished. " Isaiah 51:6 (NKJV) https://www.biblestudytools.com/nkjv/isaiah/51.html

All of our hope should be in Jesus Christ. He is going to create a “new heavens and a new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness” 1 Peter 3:13 (KJV) https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/2-Peter-3-13/

Please don’t be fooled. This earth is a damaged and ruined place. Loving, wise and just as He is, God knows that the only solution to the issues this world has is for Him to destroy it and create a new earth and this is exactly what He is going to do.

"10But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 11Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 13Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. 14Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. 15And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation…” 1 Peter 3:10-15 (KJV) https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/2-Peter-3-13/

Jesus is a loving God and He wants to save EVERYONE who is willing to be saved from sin, or even who is willing to be made willing to be saved from sin.

Jesus is going to take everyone who has made a decision to be on His side-which is the side of love, justice, mercy, fairness and righteousness, to be with Him in heaven.

2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

3

And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

4

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

5

And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

6

And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely." Revelation 21:2-6 (KJV) https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Revelation-Chapter-21/#4

17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.

18

But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy.

19

And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying." Isaiah 65:17-19 (KJV) https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Isaiah-Chapter-65/

Courage, everyone! God loves us. Let us be responsible in the way in which we treat the earth and let us spend even more time thinking about how we treat each other and also how we treat the animals; however, let us remember what is going to happen to this earth and let us hope in God, bask in His love, delight in and obey His Word and look forward to the day when He comes to “make all things new” (Revelation 21:5 https://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Revelation-21-5/).

Courage!
